Our History

frontPlatypus.JPG

Platypus was established in 1986. It is a family owned business specialising in Learn to Swim programs. We nurture from a very young age ,16 months to 8 years of age, to love and enjoy being in the water and to become water safe.

We are Austswim accredited and hold bronze and silver high performance coaching accreditations as well. Our staff are caring and friendly and will guide each student from a non-swimmer to a water safe and proficient swimmer.

Our programs focus on:

  • Teaching young children to swim independently in the water and to be able to swim back to the edge of the pool.

  • Learn how to swim with good technique and breathing skills.

  • Prepare the older swimmers to swim with an advanced stroke in preparation to train in a squad environment.

Our Pool

Platypus operates all year round in an indoor heated pool, using UV filtration to sanitise the water and help lower the amount of chemicals used in the pool water. The water quality is especially helpful for children experiencing skin allergies such as eczema or any other skin conditions.

The pool temperature in summer is 29/30 and in winter 32/33 degrees.
